Atlanta’s Dangerfeel Newbies on musical point with Prince inspired new single

The Atlanta based soul/ jazz combo Dangerfeel Newbies follow up their seminal album release ‘Hariet’ with a seriously inspired cover of Coltranes ‘A Love Supreme’ executed in the style of the late great musical genius that was Prince. The track is called ‘Yo Luv is Supreme’ and all proceeds will be going to charity.

For those who don’t know, this Atlanta-based trio formed by broadcasters/ dj’s Jamal Ahmad, Mark Angel and keyboardist/musician Darren “DJ” Wagner were inspired by the story of Dangerfield Newby, one of five African-Americans in the abolitionist John Brown’s raiding party during the US civil war, and class their sound as a mission to create something that encapsulates a soulful and well-rounded listening experience. On talking about the new single Jamal expressed that “the single is a tribute to Prince and we, as a group, tried to imagine what it would sound like if Madhouse covered the spiritual Coltrane classic ‘A Love Supreme'”.
